PTSD

What It Is: PTSD is a response to experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. It brings intense memories, nightmares, or flashbacks that feel real and overwhelming, affecting your sense of safety and peace.

What This Might Look Like: You might have intrusive thoughts about the event, avoid reminders, or feel hyper-alert. Sleep disturbances and irritability are also common.

How This Could Impact Your Life: PTSD can strain relationships, hinder work performance, and lead to feelings of isolation. It may also contribute to other mental health issues like depression or anxiety.

Statistics: About 8% of the U.S. population will experience PTSD at some point in their lives. Women are twice as likely as men to develop PTSD.

Gold Standard for Treatment: Trauma-focused therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and CBT are effective. Medication can also be helpful. As a PMHNP, I can provide therapy and prescribe medications to support your healing.

Our Approach: We offer in-person and telehealth sessions to fit your comfort level. Our focus is on empowering you to process trauma and regain control over your life. By fostering personal accountability and an internal locus of control, we believe healing is possible.

Visit Frequency: Initially, we'll meet weekly to build trust and work through trauma. As you progress, we'll adjust the frequency to match your needs, ensuring continuous support.
