Anxiety
What It Is: Anxiety is that constant worry or unease, like waiting for the other shoe to drop. It keeps you on edge, making it hard to focus, sleep, or enjoy things you once loved.
What This Might Look Like: You might experience restlessness, rapid heartbeat, sweating, or a sense of impending doom. Avoiding certain situations or places becomes common to prevent anxious feelings.
How This Could Impact Your Life: Anxiety can interfere with work, school, and relationships. It may lead to physical health issues like headaches or digestive problems and can diminish your overall quality of life.
Statistics: Anxiety disorders affect about 19% of U.S. adults annually. They often co-occur with depression, and women are more likely to be affected than men.
Gold Standard for Treatment: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and medication are commonly used to treat anxiety. As a PMHNP, I can provide therapy and prescribe medications to help manage symptoms.
Our Approach: We offer both in-person and telehealth sessions to accommodate your needs. Together, we'll develop practical skills to manage anxious feelings and help you take charge of your responses. By focusing on personal accountability and building an internal locus of control, you can learn to manage anxiety effectively.
Visit Frequency: We'll start with more frequent sessions—weekly or bi-weekly—to establish coping strategies and monitor progress. As you gain confidence in managing anxiety, we'll transition to less frequent visits, ensuring you continue to feel supported.
